Almost all of you must have heard about the posts of DSP i.e. Deputy Superintendent of Police and DCP i.e. Deputy Commissioner of Police. DSP is a representative of the state police, who gives instructions to the state police officers.
Officers of this rank have a national emblem above a star on their shoulder straps. Talking about DCP, in metropolitan cities with police commissioner system, the DCP is the district police chief (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad). It is equivalent to the post of Superintendent of Police. This is a senior level IPS post, which means an IPS officer is promoted as SP/DCP within 4 to 7 years.
DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police)
DSP is considered equivalent to ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) and can be promoted to IPS after few years of service as per the state government laws. Examinations are conducted every year for direct appointment to the police forces at the DSP level.

To get job on these posts, candidates must be of Indian nationality. Also, one should have graduation degree from a recognized institute and age should be between 21 years to 30 years.
DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police)
DCP means Deputy Commissioner of Police. Deputy Commissioner of Police is a senior post in the Indian Police or State Police Services and commands the district police. A DCP is in charge of overseeing and supervising police operations and acts as the head of the criminal administration.
